8-Week Raising Challenging Children Workshop

This group, facilitated by Patty Marquis, LICSW, is for parents of children aged 3 thru 5. Challenging children are often very bright and interested in many things, however they may also be uncooperative an have a hard time participating in basic activities without a struggle. Parents who have tried typical discipline strategies with their child and found them to be ineffective, or whose child has extended temper tantrums in many situations for which triggers seem to be nonexistent or minimal, would benefit from this group. If your preschooler behaves well at school but not at home, this group could be helpful for you. If you have tried other groups, read parenting books, or find yourself yelling without result and are unhappy with this situation, we welcome you to participate in this workshop. The group is an opportunity to strengthen your understanding of, and relationship with, your child, and develop ways to care for and nurture yourself. We will look at temperament and its role in the parent-child relationship, your child's vulnerabilities and strengths, and ways to anticipate problems and make appropriate adaptations.
