On Saturday, June 30, at 7:30 p.m., the Concord Women’s Chorus (CWC) and Bella Voce Women’s Chorus of Vermont will present a benefit at Trinity Episcopal Church, 81 Elm Street, in Concord. All proceeds from this benefit will go to Emerson Hospital’s program offering integrative therapies to women undergoing cancer treatment. These therapies, which include massage, acupuncture, and restorative yoga, help ease anxiety and pain while promoting the body’s natural healing process. Audience members will be asked to make a suggested donation of $25, and all donations in any amount will be tax-deductible.

CWC will be presenting an encore performance of Earth Songs, its popular May 2012 program featuring folk songs and songs of the people. Bella Voce will offer its premiere Concord performance, and both choruses will raise voices together at the concert’s conclusion.

“A collaboration between CWC and Bella Voce is a natural fit,” says CWC’s Artistic Director Jane Ring Frank. “The choruses are similar with like missions. We are excited to be offering a concert of beautiful women’s music, while giving support to an important cause.”

Now in its 52nd season, the Concord Women’s Chorus has been in the forefront of performing music by women composers, who are often under-represented in the concert hall. The group performs classical, contemporary, and newly composed music with mastery, discipline, and joy and typically presents two concerts each year, in December and May. In addition, the chorus offers performances that benefit the community, for example, concerts on behalf of Wayside Hospice in Weston, Massachusetts. Recent highlights for the chorus include a tour in England, collaborative concerts with the Concord Orchestra, and the commission and 2010 world premiere of Concord Fragments by internationally renowned composer Libby Larsen.

Founded in 2004 by Dawn Willis, Bella Voce Women’s Chorus of Vermont is an auditioned choir that performs existing and newly commissioned sacred and secular works for women's voices throughout Vermont and the Northeastern United States. The choir has also performed concerts in Ireland, Austria, and Italy. Bella Voce's mission is to promote choral music of quality through performances of high artistic value; provide members with the opportunity to enhance their musical knowledge and skills; enrich the quality of life of members and audience; serve as role models to women singers of all ages; and promote the value of singing as a life-long avocation. Bella Voce offers a Mentoring Program for music education majors and young teachers to provide them with opportunities to advance their music leadership skills.

Tickets will be available at the door. For more information, please go to CWC’s website, concordwomenschorus.org, or call 978-852-4239.
