APPLAUDD is a 4-part series educating parents about substance abuse among teens & how to prevent it. It is geared for parents with students in grades 5-12.
The second part of the series will focus on a new trend: Abusing Prescription Drugs and Over-The-Counter Medications. The program explains what these drugs are, from painkillers like Percocet & OxyContin to over-the-counter medicines like Dextromethorphan & Pseudoephedrine, and it also explains why these drugs are becoming so popular among students. Talking with doctors about prescription choices and proper disposal of medications is discussed.
Marilyn G. Belmonte, a veteran in drug abuse recognition and prevention among teens, will be giving an informed and engaging presentation with time for Q&A.
