What Parents Need to Know About the New Anti-Bullying Legislation – How This Legislation Impacts Our Schools
A Free Presentation for Parents given by Margaret Brumberg, J.D. through the Center for Parents and Teachers
This presentation will give an overview of the new anti-bullying law, helping parents understand this mandate by reviewing the specifics of the legislation, including the legal obligations the law places on schools to respond to reports of potential bullying. We will clarify when bullying, which is prohibited but not a crime, becomes criminal, and will offer parents some suggestions on how to address bullying. We will also explore the critical cyber component of bullying. This program supports Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone’s 2011-2012 school-based initiative on healthy relationships.
