Tenebrae Service at Trinity Episcopal Church

On Wednesday, April 4 at 7:30 PM, Trinity Episcopal Church holds the Holy Week service of Tenebrae, the distinctive ceremony where the candles are gradually extinguished.  This service also includes readings and chanted psalms.  Tenebrae prepares the church for the darkest days of Holy Week and the following joy of Easter.

Concord resident Sally Sanford, soprano, will be joined by organist Robert Barney and cellist Brent Wisseck to perform the "Lamentations of Jeremiah" as set by Johann Rosenmüller during this service.  Rosenmüller worked in Leipzig in the 1680's and later worked in Venice.  A small group from Trinity's Parish Choir will chant psalms of despair and hope.

This service is open to all in the community.  Trinity is fully handicap accessible.
