ICYMI: Concord Police Name First Female Detective
Kallie Koppenal began her tenure in the Criminal Investigations Unit Monday.
CONCORD, MA – The Concord Police Department announced its first female detective Monday, assigned to the Support Services Division's Criminal Investigations Unit.
As a member of the unit, Det. Kallie Koppenal will investigate property crimes, assaults, narcotics distribution, fraud and sexual assaults, as well as track and apprehend wanted suspects.
"Detective Koppenal has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to professional policing and provides exceptional service to our community," Concord Police Chief Joseph O’Connor said in a press release. "She possesses traits that will make her an excellent investigator."

A native of West Boylston, Koppenal graduated from Framingham State University with a bachelor's degree in graphic arts and is currently studying for her master's in criminal justice at the University of Lowell. She joined the Concord Police Department in 2014 after two years as an officer in Berlin and has been active in Concord's community policing efforts, including the first Citizen's Academy last year.
"Detective Koppenal will make a great detective," Town Manager Chris Whelan said in a release. "I’m equally happy for Detective Koppenal and our town with the selection of our first female detective."
