ICYMI:College Road Home 'Total Loss' After Fire, Explosion

Concord, MA - Fire officials are still at work on College Road, picking through what remains of a 3,500-square-foot home destroyed late Wednesday night in a three-alarm fire.

Fire investigators are hoping to find a cause for the fire, which not only burned the building to the ground but resulted in at least one explosion, according to the Concord Fire Department.

Concord Fire Captain Jay Redmond, who was on duty during the blaze Wednesday, said his department has identified an oil tank that appears to have caused at least one of the explosions reported by neighbors.

The home is a "total loss," according to Redmond. A rough estimate puts damages at easily half a million dollars, he said. The home's occupants were not there at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Investigators have determined the fire was likely accidental, but have yet to pinpoint an exact cause, Boston's CBS station reports.
