MIAA Releases Pairings for Lacrosse Sectionals
C-C boys', girls' squads each earn seeds in the top three spots of their respective brackets.
The second season for the boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams kicks off this week, as both Patriot squads have landed spots in their respective MIAA sectional tournaments. C-C’s boys’ team will be the No. 2 seed in the East Division 2 bracket, while the girls’ squad earned the No. 3 slot in the North Division 1 sectional.
On the boys’ side, the Patriots (16-1) earned a bye out of the Preliminary Round and will start the postseason in the First Round on Friday.
C-C will take on the winner of No. 15 Falmouth High School and No. 18 North Andover High School. Those two teams will play on Tuesday at Falmouth, with the winner moving on to face the Patriots at Doug White Memorial Field.

Last year, Concord-Carlisle, also as the No. 2 seed, advanced all the way to the sectional semifinals, but fell to No. 4 Medfield High School, which went on to win the D-2 East and D-2 state championships. Medfield is No. 9 in this year’s tournament.
Coach Tom Dalicandro’s team’s lone loss this year came way back on April 23 when it fell, 5-2, to Wellesley High School in the annual Coaches’ Challenge Cup tournament. Wellesley is the top seed in this year’s tournament.

For the C-C girls’ team, the No. 3 seed serves as proof of its spectacular regular season. The Patriots seemed to score at will at points this year, and will open the North D-1 tournament in the First Round on Tuesday.
They will play host to No. 14 Woburn High School, with the game slated to begin at 4 p.m.
It wasn’t surprising to see coach Paul Morrison’s Patriot girls’ goal totals hovering around the 20s this season, as they topped the mark six times and scored 19 on three more occasions. They scored a season-high 27 goals in a 27-21 win in a slugfest against Marblehead on May 9.
Last year, C-C was the No. 13 seed, but only lasted one game into the tournament. After a Preliminary Round bye, the Patriots took on No. 4 Andover High School and fell 14-12 on the road. Andover eventually made it to the sectional semifinals.
Dates and times for both the boys’ and girls’ sectional finals have not been released on the MIAA’s website. The champions from each sectional tournament will move on to play for the state championship in their respective divisions.
