Kerem Shalom will be the new site for the Concord Montessori School this coming fall. It will be a homecoming of sorts as Concord Montessori is coming back to the area after a brief two-year stay in Billerica.
The school was located in Concord prior to its move to Billerica, and is now returning because of leasing and space needs. Concord Montessori is thrilled to be back in Concord, the director said.
With an established 36-year presence in the community, Concord Montessori's families come from Concord and neighboring towns such as Carlisle and Billerica.

The preschool will run two classrooms at Kerem Shalom for students from 2-6 years old. Concord Montessori, "fosters independence and a lifelong love of learning," notes Laurel Zolfonoon, director and lead teacher of the primary class.
Both of these qualities are well suited to Concord, being the birthplace of Ralph Waldo Emerson, a renowned scholar and "champion of individualism".

Amy Smack, a Montessori parent believes "the Montessori approach allows for a very individualized educational experience." With a "glorious mix of both" an academic and play-based curriculum, Concord Montessori believes in children's learning "coming from within" and having the "child be drawn to the work." Encouraging the students to take care of themselves, they have, "such dignity when they can trust themselves."
Because of the young ages of the students and the strong parent community that advocates the Montessori philosophy, Concord Montessori has "a real sense of community." In addition, parents organize activities outside of school that helps to enhance the sense of community. Concord Montessori is currently filled for the fall, however some spots may become available.
