Concord residents assist the Greater Boston Food Bank in raising $1 million at annual event.

The following was provided on behalf of the Greater Boston Food Bank.

Business and civic leaders and community members came together last night to raise funds for The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) and its hunger relief efforts.  GBFB helps feed children and families, veterans, college students, the elderly and working adults in 190 eastern Massachusetts cities and towns.  The $1,000,000 raised will provide 2,360,000 meals to those in need.

According to Catherine D’Amato, GBFB President & CEO, the generosity of the Boston community will make a real difference to our friends, neighbors and colleagues who worry about feeding themselves and their families.  “Our supporters know that food insecurity in Massachusetts hurts people of every age and background.  Through their contributions, our sponsors and guests will help provide nutritious meals to those who might otherwise go hungry,” said D’Amato.
