In other news, Whelan said state aid from Beacon Hill is "not as bad as it has been," although it represents a cut from last year's aid package. Town Finance Director Tony Logalbo told Whelan that the tax rate will increase very slightly for 2011.

The 375th Birthday Celebration Gift Account has received almost $9,000 in two checks from Cambridge Savings Bank and TD Bank NA. Whelan said banners about the celebration in September will be placed in Concord Center and West Concord Center in late August.
