Sports Week in Review: Aug. 6 - Aug. 12

A recap of the games and stories Patch covered in and around Concord this week.

This week, the Concord-Carlisle 14B softball squad wrapped up its summer play in the MiddleEssex League. Teams from throughout eastern and northeastern Massachusetts compete in the MiddleEssex, with divisions starting at 12-years old and running up to 16-years old.

On Monday, C-C’s 14B team took on Lynnfield at Concord’s Emerson Playground. At this level, is more important than picking up a victory in the win column. Coach P.J. Jewell rotated girls around the diamond throughout the game against Lynnfield. He also sent four pitchers to the circle.

Unfortunately, the end result wasn’t exactly what the team had planned, but Jewell said he was happy to get a lot of girls playing time and experience at a number of positions.
