Sports Week in Review: July 16 - 22
A recap look at the games and stories Patch covered in and around Concord this week.
This week, the Concord Post 158 American Legion baseball team began play in the Chairman’s Cup, the consolation tournament for the District 5 league.
On Tuesday, Post 158 to Medford Post 45. Poor defense and an incident that caused the Concord pitcher to be ejected from the game led to the team dropping into the losers bracket of the double-elmination tournament.
Post 158 tried to remain alive in the playoffs against fellow one-loss foe Lexington on Friday afternoon at Lexington High School.

Also this week, Patch caught up with Karolyne Shieh, a Carlisle resident and student-athlete at Concord-Carlisle High School. , Shieh is well on her way to success in either sport. In golf this year, she won the MIAA girls’ individual championship and barely missed the cut at the U.S. Public Links, one of the top amateur tournaments in the country, in Oregon.
