Sports Week in Review: July 2 - 8

The calendar may signal that it’s summertime, with temperatures now reaching in the high 80s on a regular basis, but it still may feel like winter for a number of  youth hockey players from around the area.

This week, Patch caught up with the participants of week-long Greg Carter European Hockey School at the Valley Sports rink on Main Street. It was the held by the organization, which is run by the former NHL player.

At Greg Carter Hockey School camps, skaters of all ages can keep winter going long into the summer months. Sessions are planned throughout the next several weeks.

Also this week, the annual Bay State Games got under way with the competition’s . Some of the best high school players from around the state have converged on Bentley in Waltham to play against one another for bragging rights that determine which region of Massachusetts will reign supreme.
