Sports Week in Review: July 23 - 29

Post 158 takes a second loss in the Chairman's Cup, and the Thomas R. Huckins Golf Tournament is right around the corner.

The Concord Post 158 American Legion baseball team closed out its season this week with its second loss of the Chairman’s Cup, a consolation posteason tournament for District 5 teams that did not make the playoffs.

Concord’s to Lexington Post 38 at Lexington High School last Friday. The home team banged out 17 hits and 16 runs during the elimination game of losers bracket play.

The Post 158 season started out well enough, as the squad hovered near the top of the standings for much of the first half of the summer. But everything changed once the Fourth of July holiday passed, and Post 158 struggled from then on.

On Friday, discussed the Thomas R. Huckins Memorial Golf Tournament, which is held each summer at . The 2011 edition will be held Monday, Aug. 29 and will be attempting to raise funds that will be given out in the form of scholarships for students.

Also this week, Patch caught up with the CC golf team, whose members are keeping busy this summer by participating in various individual tournaments. The Patriots will reconvene for the MIAA season in the fall.
