State Trooper Charged with Choking Girlfriend
The trooper, who was not named, is assigned to the Concord barracks and is a native of Boxborough.

BOXBOROUGH, MA—A Massachusetts State Trooper is facing domestic assault charges after allegedly choking his girlfriend in his Boxborough apartment Saturday, according to a statement from State Police spokesperson Dave Procopio.
State police arrested the trooper Saturday night after the incident, and charged him with assault on a family or household member and strangulation or suffocation. Evidence gathered during a preliminary investigation indicated that the trooper choked her with his hands on her throat, and at one point put her in a choke hold before she was able to break free.
The trooper was assigned to the Concord barracks, and was immediately relieved of his duty.

The trooper's bail was set at $500,000, and is set to be arraigned at Ayer District Court on Monday. State police will hold a hearing to determine the trooper's future duty status during the upcoming week.
