"Misters and Sisters Part one — A Love Story in Song and Dance" to be performed Friday and Saturday at Concord Academy
A new adventure path in cabaret, singing and movement will be presented to audiences Friday and Saturday, as the Summer Stages Dance series at Concord Academy presents "Misters and Sisters Part One — A Love Story in Song and Dance."
The show is "by and about David Parker and Jeffrey Kazin and their performing alter egos," according to a press release on the show. "Parker and Kazin are well known to audiences of contemporary dance through their work with David Parker and The Bang Group, which is a choreographic meeting place for artists and audiences who wish to engage in lively dialogue with the show business, classical and contemporary dance traditions which surround us."
A tribute to David Parker's father, the late Robert B. Parker, an award-winning author of more than 45 books, who died suddenly in January, the show will include songs he "loved," according to Richard Colton, one of the founders and directors of the Summer Stages Dance series.

Colton said Parker and Kazin are "using The Great American Song Book in their performance, which includes songs of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Rodger's and Hart, Gershwin and others."
"Misters and Sisters Part One" is focused on two love stories: one is the romance between the two men and the other is "their love of show business and how it proved to be their childhood salvation and adult vocation," according to the press release.

"A repertoire of classic romantic standards will be sung, danced and reclaimed," according to the press release.
This show is one of many being performed this month as part of Summer Stages Dance, "an acclaimed performance series that offers the best of contemporary dance," according to the Academy's Web site.
The Web site states of the series: "The three-week workshop (which began July 11 and continues until the end of the month) not only includes rigorous training in ballet, modern, improvisation, composition and repertory, but also offers an unprecedented opportunity for seasoned professionals, advanced level students and new choreographic talent to work together on the creation and performance of original new works."
In its 14th year, the series has marked this year with the expansion of its partnership with the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston.
As part of the partnership, according to the academy web site, "Summer Stages resident artists will present The Art of Collaboration: Process and Performance, a new series that highlights the resonance between dance, the visual arts and poetry at the ICA's Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theatre."
Artists included in this collaboration are Miguel Gutierrez and Jenny Holzer, Trajal Harrell and Sarah Sze, and Rashaun Mitchell and Anne Carson.
Tickets to Parker and Kazin's show are $50. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Dance/performance studio at Concord Academy, 166 Main St. For more information and tickets, go to www.summerstagesdance.org or call (978) 402-2339.
