Time Capsule Buried by Samuel Adams, Paul Revere Discovered in Boston

An incredible piece of history was unearthed in Boston Thursday.

A paperback book-sized time capsule that officials said was buried by Samuel Adams and Paul Revere was discovered at the State House in Boston.

WHDH reported the capsule dates back to 1795. It contains newspapers, coins, and a silver plate.

It was found in a cornerstone of the building as crews repaired a water leak. The capsule was then transported to the Museum of Fine Arts.

Officials plan to open the capsule next week to discover its full contents, according to the Associated Press.

In October, another time capsule was discovered in a lion statue atop Boston’s Old State House. This time capsule contained newspapers and campaign buttons, among other items.
