Voter Registration Deadline Nears
Voters must be registered to vote in the primary by Wednesday.
Interested in voting in the upcoming primaries September 14 or in the
general election in November? You must be a US citizen, a resident of
Massachusetts and 18 years or older by election day according to the State of
Massachusetts elections division.
Town Clerk Anita Tekle said that the Concord will not know till after the
election how many new voters there are but she said that a number of people
have changed parties or moved. She said that at present that there were 12,129
voters in Concord and that the last couple of months she had noticed more
people registering to vote.
There is no waiting period to be eligible to register to vote. You may
register in person or by mail at Concord's election office or any election
office in the state. Voter registration can also be done when applying or
renewing a license at the RMV. People can also access regstration material at
local schools at any level according to the election division.
Potential voters must fill out a affidavit of registration, which must be
answered truthfully under the penalty of perjury. Mail in registration is also
available by calling a number on the election division's website. Voters who
have just moved to Concord must notify local election officials of their change
in address. There is a 20 day deadline to register before all primaries and
elections. Those voting for the first time must show identification at the
polls under the law.
In Massachusetts according to the election division, people may apply in
writing for an absentee ballot if they will be absent from Concord on election
day, if they have a physical disability that prevents them from going to the
polls or if religious reasons prevent them from going to the polls.that day.
