Doug Meagher, assistant town manager, told the selectmen on Monday that the Public Works Department has "backed off" its conservation restriction as the town waits out the drought.
The department had erected signs urging residents to curb their use of water, but had stopped short of issuing a water emergency. Residents are still urged to use caution and not water flagrantly, but the worse of the heat wave seems to be over, and the town's water supply is sufficient.
The Public Works Department is offering tips to residents on how to achieve a lowering of water use. See the website: www.concordnet.org.

Another meeting is Sept. 8, Meagher said. New applications for CPA funds are due at the town house on Sept. 24.
Meagher said bids will be opened on July 30 for the sidewalk project on Lowell Road. The work is expected to begin in the fall.
