243 Seniors Will Graduate Saturday at Danvers High, Rain or Shine
Commencement exercises are scheduled for June 8 at 2 p.m., rain or shine. If shine, then out on Deering Field; if rain, inside the field house.

The Danvers High School Class of 2013 is set to graduate this Saturday (2 p.m.), rain or shine.
Originally, commencement exercises were going to be moved to Monday at the high school fieldhouse in the event of a deluge, but DHS Principal Susan Ambrozavitch says those plans have changed.

Commencement is still on for June 8, whether or not it's still raining, she said. If it is raining, the ceremony will be held indoors, otherwise it will be held out on Deering Field.
The current weather forecast says the rain is expected let up in time for graduation at 2 p.m. on Saturday, but then possibly resume later in the afternoon. Heavy rainfall -- possibly 2-3 inches -- is predicted for the Danvers area Friday night.

There are 243 Danvers High seniors ready to graduate, nevertheless. Jessica Lewis is this year's valedictorian, while Emily Scottgale is the salutatorian and Emma Weir is the senior essayist for the ceremony.
