All Saints to Offer Concert of Sacred Music Sunday, Oct. 17-- 3PM

Pianist and organist John Churchwell will offer a concert of sacred music on piano, traditional hymns, and select classical organ pieces.

DANVERS, MA -- All Saints Episcopal Church, Danvers, will present pianist and organist John Churchwell in a concert of sacred music, traditional hymns, and select classical organ pieces on Sunday, October 17 at 3 PM in the church sanctuary. The event will also be offered on Facebook Live (https://bit.ly/3F8rTyE).

Titled “Sacred Worship and Piano Excursions,” the special concert will be a time of worship highlighting the sounds of piano, pipe organ, hymns, prayers, and liturgy.

Churchwell will play pieces by contemporary sacred piano arrangers Marilynn Ham, Marilyn Thompson, Joel Raney, Mark Hayes, James and Stan Pethel. Fantasia on "LOBE DEN HERREN" (Praise to the Lord, the Almighty) will be played as a piano and organ duet with Churchwell on organ and The Rev. Brett Johnson on piano. The concert will run 50 minutes and is a fundraiser for the Music Ministry of All Saints Episcopal Church of the North Shore.

A supremely talented pianist, organist and vocalist, John Churchwell engages Sunday worshippers at All Saints with his gifts of musical devotion on All Saints' pipe organ and Steinway grand piano. He has actively and creatively embraced the unique challenges of providing his soul-stirring music for All Saints' one congregation on three platforms -- in person and concurrently on Zoom and on Facebook Live -- during the Covid pandemic.

Classically trained, Churchwell majored in music education and minored in piano performance at Ouachita Baptist University, in Arkansas. His significant experience as a church musician includes having served as choirmaster and organist for First Presbyterian Church Little Rock, Arkansas, and as associate director of music and worship arts at the First United Methodist Church in Little Rock.

All are welcome to experience “Sacred Worship and Piano Excursions.” Free-will donations will be gratefully accepted to support the church’s music ministry by submitting a check made out to All Saints North Shore with ‘Music Ministry’ in the memo line, or by accessing our Paypal portal (https://bit.ly/3F3IPq1). Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the law.
