“The biggest day that the government will ever have in your life is the day you step into a courtroom seeking justice for you and your family. Maura Ciardiello is the only candidate in this race who wants to carry on my work, who is committed to public safety, to holding judges accountable for their decisions, and to fighting for desperately needed reforms,” said Manning, on her way to a political rally.
“Maura Ciardiello will bring common sense, sound decisions and independence to the Governor’s Council. She will make the Merrimack Valley and the North Shore proud to be represented by her. I am honored that she wants to carry on the initiatives I spearheaded and of which I am so proud.”

Ciardiello, mother of three and wife of a Massachusetts State Trooper, is a schoolteacher by profession. Over the course of the last year, Maura Ciardiello has interviewed Councillors, both past and present, has poured over thousands of pages of minutes and has reviewed almost 100 hours of judicial hearings—the only candidate running for the Governor’s Council to have done so.
Already endorsed by The Lowell Sun as well as by the International Brotherhood of Police and the State Police Association of Massachusetts, Ciardiello has now clinched Manning’s endorsement—making her tough to beat.
“I am so impressed with Maura’s commitment to gathering facts before forming her opinions—that integrity and grit will serve the public well and will make our neighborhoods safer.” Councillor Mary-Ellen Manning said of Maura Ciardiello.
Manning is departing the Governor’s Council after twelve years of service.
