Beverly Man Charged for Giving Fake Name to Police, Failure to Stop

The following information was provided by the Danvers Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following excerpts are from reports in the Danvers Police Department press log from July 21-22.

Sunday, July 21

  • 6:42 p.m. A person at Motel 6 reported a violation of a restraining order involving a text message.
  • 7:13 p.m. Report of a motor vehicle accident involving personal injuries on Route 1. State police handled the scene.
  • 8:43 p.m. Report of a shoplifter at Walmart.
  • 8:52 p.m. Report of a hit-and-run car accident on Elliott Street leaving one person with injuries.
  • 11:49 p.m. Steven Dichiara, 46, was arrested at Motel 6 and charged with domestic assault and battery. No address was listed for Dichiara.

Monday, July 22

  • 6:55 a.m. Antonio Furtado, 31, of 152 Endicott St., Danvers, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop on Endicott Street. He was charged with driving with suspended license and a miscellaneous equipment violation.
  • 9:31 a.m. Police made a traffic stop on Hobart Street and issued a court summons to the driver for operating a vehicle with a suspended license or registration.
  • 2:58 p.m. Richard Wojcik, 60, of 45 Broadway St., Beverly, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Bridge and Elliott streets. He was charged with giving a false name or address to a police officer, failure to stop for police and driving with suspended license.
  • 4:25 p.m. Report of an erratic operator driving on the wrong side of the road on Garden Street. Police searched the area, but didn't find anyone.
