Blessing of the Backpacks, Brief Cases and Lunch Boxes Takes Place During 'Get Ready for School Sunday' at All Saints of the North Shore

Children, teachers and family are invited to bring backpacks, book bags and briefcases for special back to school/work blessings!

The Rev. Marya DeCarlen, priest in charge at All Saints Episcopal Church of the North Shore, joyfully invites area children and families to participate in a special, feel-good “Blessing of the Backpacks, Brief cases and Lunch Boxes” that will be part of the 9 a.m. service on Sunday, August 31, in the church at 46 Cherry Street, across from Danvers Town Hall.

School-age children are invited to bring backpacks and book bags or anything school-related for which they would like a blessing, and their parents, teachers and other adults are welcome to participate also, by bringing their brief cases, portfolios, or lunch boxes to the service.

With this special blessing, Sunday will offer a time to celebrate the new beginnings and renewed energy that come with fall -- a new school year and a return to work. Together, we will pray for those who teach and those who learn and those who offer their energy to the work that they do in our communities.

After the service, everyone is invited to our regular Sunday Coffee time, where friends and newcomers can enjoy fellowship as well as tasty treats and beverages.

When shopping for school supplies, please consider buying supplies for another child, and bring them to church. Donations will be taken to the Danvers People to People Food Pantry to benefit the many children served there.
