Bob Amerault Becomes New Danvers Fire Chief
Danvers Town Manager Steve Bartha announced the appointment to replace the retired Robert Pyburn.
DANVERS, MA — Bob Amerault took over as the new chief of the Danvers Fire Department after nearly 30 years with the department — the last four years as deputy chief.
Danvers Town Manager Steve Bartha announced the appointment this week, effective on Monday, after Amerault served as acting chief for the past four months.
Brian Barry will become the town's new deputy chief effective Sept. 14.

"I've had the privilege of working closely with Bob and Brian for the past six years," Bartha said in a statement. "Their dedication to this community is matched by few. I'm excited to watch them build upon the solid foundation laid by those who came before them, and have every confidence in their ability to lead the department into the future."
Amerault joined the department in 1993 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2008, captain in 2013 and deputy chief in 2013.

Barry, who is a captain and the department's training officer, joined the department in 1993, was promoted to lieutenant in 2013 and then captain in 2016.
