Drivers Charged In Danvers Highway Fight

A 64-year-old Beverly woman and 33-year-old Gloucester woman were charged with assault after fighting each other on Route 128, police said.

DANVERS, MA — Massachusetts State Police filed charges against the two women who were filmed fighting each other on Route 128 in Danvers Friday morning. Police did not release the names of either women but said a 64-year-old from Beverly was charged with assault and battery and disorderly conduct. A 33-year-old from Gloucester was charged with assault and battery on a person over the age of 60, disorderly conduct, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, assault and stopping on a state highway.

State Police also filed an "immediate threat" against both women with the Registry of Motor Vehicles. The women cannot legally drive until they appear at the RMV to get an active status on their drivers licenses.

Two drivers caught the fight on video and submitted the evidence to police. The altercation took place Friday morning around 10 a.m. The two women can be seen on the video out of their cars on the southbound side of the highway.

A woman in a red coat with dark hair can be seen locking arms with a woman who has blondish hair. The blonde woman can be heard yelling "Get off of me!"CBS Boston, which first reported this story, posted one of the driver videos.

Both women were gone by the time State Police arrived. It's not clear what exactly started the fight. The driver who shot the video yells "I'm sending this to the police!" as she drives by the women.
