Boys Hockey to Face Top-Seeded Beverly After Big Win Over Somerville

The Danvers High School boys hockey team will meet rival Beverly on Friday night in Woburn.

The boys hockey team at Danvers High School will face North Shore rival Beverly High School in the next round of the Div. 2 North boys hockey tournament on Friday night.

The Falcons (11-6-4) advance to face the Panthers (18-1-1) after a big 9-1 win over Somerville High School on Tuesday night, reported the Salem News. The win set a team record for most goals in a game and largest margin of victory in the postseason, the News reported.

In Tuesday's win, senior winger A.J. Couto had three goal, plus Rob Buchanan's 2 goals and 2 assists, Adam Merry's 2 goals and captain Joe Strangie's 4 assists all contributed in the big win for the No. 8 seed.

The game versus Beverly starts at 6 p.m. at O’Brien Rink in Woburn on Friday night.

The two Northeastern Conference teams have met twice already this year, with Beverly winning 3-0 and 4-2.
