Each meeting -- which will take place via Zoom -- features a guest speaker (typically a published author or editor) offering some tips of the trade.&nbsp;

The April 2026 guest speaker is author Tim Horvath. Horvath is the author of Understories, which won the New Hampshire Literary Award for Outstanding Work of Fiction, and Circulation, and in collaboration with composer/cellist Rafaele Andrade, Un-bow. His stories have appeared in journals such as Conjunctions, AGNI, Ploughshares, Harvard Review, and elsewhere. His story “The Understory” was selected by Bill Henderson, founder and president of the Pushcart Press, as the winner of the Raymond Carver Short Story Award. Horvath currently teaches English at Phillips Exeter Academy, as well as being a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Creative Writing Program at Stony Brook University, as well as faculty for the MFA in Writing for Warren Wilson. In addition, he teaches classes for GrubStreet, StoryStudio Chicago, Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance, and elsewhere.&nbsp;
The group is facilitated by author Dale T. Phillips, who has published novels, story collections, poetry, non-fiction, and over 80 short stories. Stephen King was Dale's college writing teacher, and since then, Dale has found time to appear on stage, television, radio, in an independent feature film, and compete on Jeopardy (losing in a spectacular fashion). He's a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the Sisters in Crime. He's traveled to all 50 states, Mexico, Canada, and through Europe.
Presented in collaboration with the Tewksbury Public Library and other area libraries.

Pet Food Donation Drive 
The Peabody Institute Library of Danvers will be collecting donations for pet food for the whole month of May for National Pet Month.<a href="https://danverslibrary.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/pet-food-donation-drive-6/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Click here for more information.</a>
Donations will be collected by the library and Pawsitive Pantry, a nonprofit organization that helps provide a safety net for pets whose families have fallen on hard times. The donations will be given to the People to People Food Pantry to help out the community.&nbsp;
You can drop off items in the Standring Room until May 30 during the library's open hours: Monday through Thursday 9am-9pm and Friday and Saturday: 9am-5pm.
Donations Needed: Wet and dry cat food , wet and dry dog food, kitten food, puppy food , smaller bags of cat litter , unexpired food, unopened bags no specific brands, no prescription food. Smaller bags of dry food are preferred.

From Amy Beach’s luminous flute Variations to the autumnal depth of Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet, from Elgar’s intimate Romance for bassoon to the radiant warmth of Florence Price’s Adoration, we trace how far a single melodic line can stretch, and how much feeling a single breath can hold.
Breath and Line continues our multi sensory, accessible series “Notes on Belonging”. As the music unfolds, visual artists respond in real time, tracing the contours and phrasing of the performance. The result is an immersive exploration of breath, movement, and line.

Charlestown-born Steve Sweeney is known as the "undisputed King of Boston comedy“, the embodiment of the city he calls home, a local guy who has become a nationally recognizable talent.
Sweeney is known not only as a headlining comedian, but also through his many memorable TV and movie appearances. During the early 1970s, a small group of Boston 'would-be' comedians performed regularly at a comedy club started by Martin Olson and Barry Crimmins in a back room of the Chinese restaurant, Ding-Ho, near Inman Square in Cambridge, MA. This group also included such unknowns as Lenny Clarke, Kevin Meaney, Jay Leno, Bobcat Goldthwait, Bill Sohonage, and Steven Wright. Steve stood out from the crowd by incorporating his great insight into the New England political scene into his act.
He was the first of the Boston super-stars to break into television, appearing on "Park Street Under," a Boston based sitcom that many believe was the inspiration for the highly successful television show "Cheers." He's also been on "Late Night with David Letterman," "Evening at The Improv" and "Comics Come Home." You might remember his small but hilarious parts in films such as Rodney Dangerfield's "Back to School," Judd Apatow's "Celtic Pride," and "There's Something About Mary" with Ben Stiller.
