Danvers Challenger Little Leaguer Swings Big At Fenway Park
Sam Geist won Sal's Pizza's "Batter Up at Fenway" contest for a memorable batting practice experience at Fenway Park on Friday.
DANVERS, MA — A 15-year-old from Danvers took a swing at the Green Monster on Friday as part of Sal's Pizza's "Batter Up at Fenway" on Friday.
Sam Geist, 15, was born with Kabuki syndrome and half a heart, undergoing three open-heart surgeries before the age of 3, as well as 14 other surgeries since.
He's now a Challenger Little League player, a huge sports fan, and even hosts his own podcast.

Carter Lydon, 7, of Lexington was the other reward recipient.
Each winner was surprised on Friday with a pizza party, custom engraved bats and Sal's swag, as well as the chance to take swings on the Fenway Park diamond on Friday.

Families also gathered at Sal's Brookline Avenue location before heading to America's most beloved ballpark.
