He may have retired from teaching, but he's certainly not done with high school athletics.
Longtime coach Roger Day retired from his job teaching physical education at Holten-Richmond Middle School in January, but continued to coach the Danvers High baseball team to another playoff run and his 400th career win this past spring.
Day plans to continue with the Falcons -- he's spent 26 years there -- and also recently took a new job. The Boston Globe reports Day will take over for Shawn Thornton as the new athletic director at Pope John XXIII High School in Everett.
Thornton is leaving for an administrative job in Charlestown.
In addition to now being one of the winningest coaches in state history, Day was inducted in the state baseball coaches association hall of fame this year and won a state title with the Falcons in 2001.
