Danvers Fights Off Wayland to Win Sectional Title

The Danvers High School boys basketball team toppled Wayland at Lowell's Tsongas Center to win the North Division 3 championship and advance to play at TD Garden.

The Falcons will soar into Boston for at least one more game.

Danvers High School escaped Wayland, 57-52, in the North Division 3 title game on Saturday at Lowell's Tsongas Center, advancing to play in the state semifinal game at TD Garden on Tuesday.

Nick Bates was the Danvers leading scorer with 13 points while Nick McKenna chipped in 12 of his own.

"It's huge for the kids. Before the year started we thought we could get there," said Danvers head coach John Walsh. It's awesome for them."
