Danvers High School Announces 2020 Commencement

Danvers High School will hold the 2020 Commencement at 8:30 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at J. Ellison Morse Field at Dr. Deering Stadium.

Danvers High School will hold the 2020 Commencement at 8:30 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at J. Ellison Morse Field at Dr. Deering Stadium. The ceremony will celebrate the 231 graduates in the Danvers High School Class of 2020.

The event will feature performances by members of the DHS Band and Chorus, with Megan Moriarty ‘20 singing the National Anthem.

In lieu of a keynote address, speeches will be made by our Class Officers taking the crowd back through memories and accomplishments over the past four years. Our 2020 Class Officers are:
Elodie Poussard, President Kylie Hills, Vice-President Madelyn Montanari, Secretary Michael Mahoney, Treasurer

Remarks will also be made by the top three students in the Class of 2020:
Valedictorian – Nikki Lam Salutatorian – Michael Filip Essayist – Gavin Nolan
Each graduate can bring two guests, and prior registration is required for the event. The Class of 2020 and guests will be seated on J. Ellison Morse Field, with seating following social distancing of at least six feet. The ceremony will follow state and local guidelines, including guidance from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) pertaining to high school graduations. Social distancing of at least six feet will be in effect and face masks will be worn by all in attendance. Alcohol based hand sanitizers will be readily available. Please note that anyone who is not feeling well should not attend. Anyone who fits the CDC criteria for an at-risk group are discouraged from attending.

The ceremony will be aired live on Danvers Community Access Television (DCAT), which is channel 8 on Comcast and channel 37 on Verizon. DCAT will also be streaming graduation live online so anyone with an internet connection can view remotely.

We are looking forward to celebrating and acknowledging the Danvers High School Class of 2020. While this year’s event may look different, we are confident it will have the same tradition and pageantry our community is proud of.
