Danvers To Host Smith School Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Saturday

The public is invited to the ceremony set for 9 a.m. at the new Smith Elementary School.

DANVERS, MA — Danvers families and residents are invited to come on down to the new Smith Elementary School for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours Saturday morning at 9.

The Ivan G. Smith Elementary School is 82,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 465 students. It includes a state-of-the-art kitchen, recording studio, therapeutic learning rooms, staff planning rooms, a sod soccer field and a chilled beam air distribution system.

The ceremony will include the Smith School chorus singing the national anthem, a performance from the Smith School band and remarks from Town Manager Steve Bartha, School Committee Chair Eric Crane, Select Board Chair Gardner Trask, Superintendent Lisa Dana, State Rep. Sally Kerans, State Sen. Joan Lovely and Jack McCarthy of the Massachusetts School Building Authority.

A reception and building tours will follow from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
