Danvers Looks To Fill Several Vacancies On Town Boards, Commissions
The openings range from one on the Beverly Airport Commission to the Zoning Board of Appeals to the Affordable Housing Trust.
DANVERS, MA — Danvers is looking for residents to volunteer to fill vacancies on several key town boards and commissions.
The openings range from being the Danvers resident on the Beverly Airport Commission to being on the Zoning Board of Appeals and on the Affordable Housing Trust.
Boards generally have public meetings once or twice a month. Those interested can fill out a Talent Pool form here. If boards, committees and commissions are filled, the notice of interest will be kept on file for future openings.

The current opening includes one as a Danvers representative on the Beverly Regional Airport Commission. The Airport Commission plays a role in managing and maintaining airport operations with duties to create plans and strategies for maintaining facilities, managing financial operations, and ensuring safety and security, as well as public relations.
The Conservation Commission has openings for one full and two alternate positions. That commission generally meets twice per month and works to protect the town's natural resources such as saltmarshes, rivers, tidal flats, bogs and swamps, which prevent flooding, filter pollution or provide wildlife habitat.

The Council on Aging has one opening. The board meets once per month and helps provide services and programs to Danvers seniors.
The Cultural Council has three openings. It meets three to six times per year with a mission to promote access to arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences for town residents of all ages.
The Danvers Affordable Housing Trust has one opening. The Trust helps create affordable housing opportunities in the town.
The Historic District Commission has one full and three alternate openings. It meets once per month and helps protect and increase the public's awareness of the town's heritage and historical buildings.
The Planning Board has one associate vacancy. That board meets twice monthly to review site plans, special permits, and subdivisions and evaluates potential changes to a zoning bylaw. The associate member participates in a special permit request when a full member is unavailable.
The Preservation Commission has one vacancy. That commission meets monthly and advises the building department on demolition permits and building landmarks.
The Zoning Board of Appeals has one alternate vacancy. That board reviews requests for special permits, variances, findings and appeals to make sure they fit within the town's zoning bylaws.
