Danvers Man Gets 8-10 Years For Beating Elderly Father
A jury acquitted Randy Dibiasio, 48, of attempted murder but convicted him on a slew of other charges.
DANVERS, MA — A Danvers man convicted of attacking his elderly father and trying to burn down his house was sentenced to 8 to 10 years in state prison Wednesday. Earlier this month, a Salem Superior Court jury acquitted Randy Dibiasio, 48, of attempted murder but convicted him of attempted arson, assault and battery on a person 60 or older, assault and battery, strangulation, and breaking and entering.
On March 18, 2016, Dibiasio broke into his father's Andrews Street home. He left a knife, bat and other weapons, as well as a can of gasoline and lit cigarettes, around the home. When his then 69-year-old father and his longtime girlfriend arrive home, Dibiasio attacked them. The girlfriend broke free and ran to a neighbor's house while Dibiasio beat his father. His father was hospitalized as a result of the attack.
