Danvers Man Is Topsfield Fair's Top Dog For 2021

Pete Davekos won the Topsfield Fair Hot Dog Eating Contest - downing the equivalent of 19 standard hot dogs and buns in just seven minutes.

DANVERS, MA — A Danvers man is officially the Topsfield Fair's top dog after Pete Davekos won the fair's third Topsfield Fair Hot Dog Eating Contest on Saturday.

Davekos downed 9½ quarter=pound hot dogs — the equivalent of 19 standard hot dogs — along with the buns in seven minutes. He beat out 15 other competitors on the Trianon Stage.

Davekos tied the record he set at the 2019 contest.

His prize was $203 to celebrate the 203red year of the Fair.

The Topsfield Fair is open through next Monday with altered hours for its 2021 return following a one-year hiatus because of the coronavirus health crisis.

This Monday, the Topsfield Fair will also hold a sensory sensitive day that will be much quieter for those who require that because of an autistic family member or one with a sensory processing disorder.
