Danvers Names New Department Of Public Works Director
Stephen King has served as the town's engineer since 2018.
DANVERS, MA — The new Danvers Department of Public Works is a familiar face in town with Stephen King being elevated to the permanent role after serving as town engineer for the past eight years.
Danvers Town Manager Jill Cahill announced the hire at Tuesday's Select Board meeting.
King officially takes over the new role as of Monday.

"I am honored to serve the community in this role and look forward to working with the talented DPW team to advance resilient, reliable services for our residents," King said.
Cahill credited King for taking on additional responsibilities as the town searched for a new DPW director, including preparing budgets for the past two years.

"Stephen has a deep, practical understanding of our infrastructure and a proven record of delivering complex capital projects on time and on budget. His leadership, collaboration with regional partners, and commitment to service will benefit residents and businesses across Danvers," Cahill said.
The town said the search process for a permanent director included interviews with an external panel of experts, followed by a final interview with the panel and town manager.
Cahill said the town will now look to fill the town engineer position.
King is a Massachusetts Registered Professional Engineer.
