Danvers Police To Provide Women's Self-Defense Course
The four-week Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) System course will be held at the Holten Richmond School in October.
DANVERS, MA — Danvers police are hosting a four-week course in October designed to provide women with tools they can use if they are ever subject to a dangerous encounteror physical attack.
The Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) System class is a four-week program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques specifically for women. These include defense and martial arts techniques.
The course includes information on awareness, risk reduction and ways to avoid attacks, but also moves on to hands-on techniques that are easy to learn and execute and have proven to be successful in thwarting attackers.

A certified Danvers police instructor will teach the course open to all residents 18 years or older, and 16 and older in the company of an adult.
Weekly courses begin on Oct. 3 with those taking them required to attend all four courses for certification. The courses are free but the class is open on a first-come, first-serve basis so registration is necessary here.
