Danvers Police Release Sketch of Man Suspected of Impersonating Officer
Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the man shown here in an artist's rendering of the suspect.
Danvers police have released a sketch of the man suspected of impersonating a police officer and sexually assaulting a woman Tuesday evening.
The composite sketch is an artist's rendering based upon a witness' description of the man, who was a stranger, and therefore shouldn't be considered an exact likeness of the suspect, caution police.
"The witness indicated that the suspect's most distinguishing feature to her was his nose, which was described as upturned," said Police Chief Neil Ouellette in a press statement.
The statement did not clarify whether the witness was actually the female victim or another person.
Anyone with information on the man's identity or whereabouts should call the Danvers Police Department at 978-774-1212 or submit anonymous tip online.
The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday on State Road. A female told police she was pulled over by a man operating a black Dodge Charger.
The man, who was wearing a dark-colored uniform and a badge, identified himself as a police officer, she said.
She said the man ordered her out of her vehicle and then groped her in a sexual manner before fleeing the scene.
