Danvers Police Say Osborn Tavern Problems Are Continuing
The bar's owner will be before selectmen on Dec. 4 to respond to the new allegations.

DANVERS, MA -- The owner of a bar that received a warning from Danvers Selectmen in September will be back before the board on Dec. 4 to discuss new allegations. Danvers Police responded to a report of a bar fight at the Osborn Tavern on Nov. 2 and arrested a Medford man on an outstanding warrant and placed an intoxicated woman in protective custody. On Nov. 10, police found a man sleeping under his running car and vomit next to the vehicle.
Osborn owner Joel Hartnett could not be reached for comment Friday morning. He is scheduled to appear before selectmen on Dec. 4. Under town bylaws, a second offense in a year can result in a license suspension of up to two weeks.
In September, Selectmen voted 3-1 to suspend the Osborn's license or one day, but only if it violates rules for Danvers liquor license holders in the next year. That suspension stemmed from a July 4 fight where the Osborn's staff did not contact police after having to physically remove a patron who refused to leave. A bar manager suffered a concussion in the altercation.
