Danvers Police Warns of IRS Scam

Elderly residents are especially being targeted.

Danvers Police are warning residents about an IRS scam that has been making the rounds.

The caller claims to be from the IRS or the local police department. The caller claims the person owes back taxes and must pay or an arrest warrant will be issued, said Danvers Police.

The scammer says that the peron can avoid arrest if the person buys MoneyPak or GreenDot pre-paid cards and calls back with the serial numbers.
