Danvers Residents Warned Of Scam Utility Calls

The Danvers Business Office said residents have reported being contacted about an overpayment with the caller seeking banking information.

DANVERS, MA — Danvers residents are being warned about a scam in which someone claiming to be from the town business office calls and tells the resident that there was an overpayment of a utility bill and then seeks banking information to provide a refund.

The Danvers Business Office said it was notified of the calls to residents on Wednesday.

"Please be advised that these calls are fraudulent and are not from the Danvers Business Office," the town said. "The Danvers Business Office will never ask for banking or credit card information via the phone.
