Danvers To Resume Electric Meter Replacements
The residential meter upgrade program, which was put on hold for two years during the coronavirus crisis, will resume this month.
DANVERS, MA —An electric meter program put on hold for nearly two years because of the coronavirus crisis is set to resume in Danvers.
The Danvers Department of Public Works said it will resume installations of new electric meters for residents this month. The program began in December 2019, but was suspended at the onset of the pandemic in March 2020.
Danvers DPW said it will soon provide a schedule for when neighborhoods should expect the replacements to occur.

"You may see a Danvers Electric truck in your neighborhood and our meter technicians going door to door," Danvers DPW said. "The technicians will notify residents upon arrival and leave a door hanger before doing the meter upgrade which typically takes less than 10 minutes."
Power loss should be "brief" during the installation, which is free.

Danvers DPW asks residents to clear debris and shrubbery from a 3-foot area around the current meters to allow for access.
