Danvers' Thomas Livingston Inducted Into Salem State Hall Of Fame

As a four-year ice hockey player, Thomas Livingston was one of the top defensive players in New England during his Salem State career.

SALEM, MA — Thomas Livingston, a former star ice hockey player from Danvers, was among those recently inducted into the Salem State University Athletic Hall of Fame.

Livingston was a member of the SSU Class of 1972.

Livingston was a four-year player at SSU and was one of the top defensive players in New England during his career, playing in an era when defensemen were not expected to contribute offensively.

As a sophomore, he helped lead Salem State to a 12-5-1 record and its first-ever postseason tournament appearance, where the Vikings finished fourth at the NAIA Championship. Named a captain of his freshman team and senior varsity teams, he earned MVP honors his senior season and was honored by Outstanding College Athletics of America in 1972.

"Each inductee this year represents the finest of athletic history at Salem State," Salem State Athletic Director Nicolle Wood said. "Their accomplishments on the field, in the classroom and in service have been transformative.

"They have contributed with integrity, sportsmanship and most importantly, great character to the history of the university."

The Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2022 also included Rachael Carter '17 (women's basketball),
Richard Fecteau '16 (baseball), Victoria Hernandez-Bailey '93 (women’s soccer), Gary Scanlon '97 (men's golf), and the 1972 men's golf team.
