Danvers Winter Parking Restriction Window Has Begun
When a snow parking emergency is declared, residents face fines and towing for parking on town streets.

DANVERS, MA — While this weekend's storm is expected to be very wet rather than white, Danvers residents are reminded that the town's winter snow parking restrictions are now in effect for when the snow eventually falls across the North Shore.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for alternative off-street parking in the event of a storm.
The restrictions run from Dec. 1 through April 1 when conditions warrant.

Danvers had two types of snow parking restrictions — a "normal" snow event in which parking is prohibited on town streets from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. to allow for removal, and a "major" snow event when a parking ban will be in place for the duration of a storm until removal operations are completed.
The fine for violating the parking ban in the town is $25 — but vehicles may also be towed at the owner's expense.

"A parking ban may last several days depending on the extent of the storm and cleanup operations," the town said. "Please be mindful to keep vehicles off the streets during snowstorms, when possible, even when the parking ban is not in place.
"Clear streets make snow removal by the DPW more efficient."
A robocall or email message to residents through the town's Blackboard Connect notification system to inform residents of a parking ban. The notification will be made prior to 7 p.m. during a "normal" snow event and no later than six hours before the start of the ban during a "major" snow event.
The town will also use social media and local news sites — such as Danvers Patch — to notify town residents of the impending ban.
