DanversCARES Announces 2106 Strengthening Families Session

Premier Program For Families With Children Ages 6-11

DanversCARES, a community coalition dedicated to supporting youth and families in making healthy decisions, is bringing back the popular Strengthening Families program. The six-week program starts on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. Sessions will be held every Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. (excluding February school vacation week). The program, for families with children ages 6-11, will be held at Highlands’s Elementary School and is open to families in all Danvers public and private schools.

In what often feels like an overscheduled world, the Strengthening Families program provides a welcomed chance to slow down and spend focused, positive time with your children. Parents and kids take the program together, separating into parent and child groups. The program allows time to practice family communications skills, make new friends and work with your kids in healthy ways.

Topics to be discussed include: developmental stages, observing your child’s behavior, active listening and communicating, positive coping strategies for stress, goals and rewards, behavior influencers, and limit setting & problem solving. Snacks are served at every session.
