Douglass, Longtime Owner of Downtown Appliance Store, Dies at 77
Lloyd Robert "Bob" Douglass of Danvers, the longtime owner and operator of Douglass Appliance on High Street, died last week. He was 77.

Lloyd Robert “Bob” Douglass, 77, of Danvers died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the following a lengthy illness.
Douglass owned and operated on High Street for 44 years alongside his wife of 57 years, Roberta “Bobbie” (Anderson) Douglass. Since opening for business in 1967, the couple was joined by their children and grandchildren at the store over the years. A longtime Danvers resident, Douglass was a member of the Danvers Lions Club and former president of the Sunday Night Bowling League at .
Born in Quincy on Dec. 9, 1933, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Dorothy (Bannister) Douglass. He was raised in Milton and graduated from Milton High School, later graduating from the New England School of Appliance and serving several years in the U.S. Naval Reserves.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses: Debra and Jeff Lathrop of Amesbury, Brenda and Scott Ferris of Danvers, Diana and Kurt Young of Kingston, N.H., Lloyd and Susan Douglass Jr. of Beverly, John and Patricia Douglass of Danvers, and Glenn Douglass of Danvers; 15 grandchildren: Lloyd III, Joseph, Matthew, John Jr., Brian, Andrew and Todd Douglass, Jenn Page, Jacki Dion, Jodi Ellsworth, Mimi Ferris, Holly Landry, Scott Ferris, Jr. and Nikki and Emily Janvier; five great-grandchildren, four sisters: Barbara Carey, Ruth Meucci, Donna Sassone and Marilyn Archibald, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Paul Douglass.
Arrangements
A funeral service will be held Monday, March 7 at 11 a.m. in the , 16 Sylvan St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Funeral arrangements were by , Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers, donations in Douglass’ memory may be made to the , P.O. Box 2076, Danvers, MA 01923 or a charity of your choice.
