Girls Hockey Advances to Quarterfinals, to Play Wednesday

The Beverly-Danvers co-op girls hockey team is in the quarterfinals after a weekend win over Medford.

It's on to the quarterfinals for the Beverly-Danvers cooperative girls hockey team after an 8-1 win over Medford on Saturday.

The Salem News reports that it was the second-ever playoff win for the team, which next faces Arlington Catholic on Wednesday night.

The quarterfinal game will be at 8 p.m. at O'Brien Rink in Woburn.

The team wears the Beverly colors but includes 10 players from Danvers High School. The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association officially recognizes it as a cooperative team and calls it the "Beverly-Danvers" team in tournament seeding.

The No. 2-seeded Beverly-Danvers team (17-2-2) had a bye through the first round before the big win over Medford High School. Arlington (15-4-2) has gotten postseason tournament wins over Cambridge-Somerville, 6-1, and Lexington, 3-2.
