Lucky 7 Owners Settle Case, But Can’t Reopen Arcades

Lucky 7 Arcade owners have reached an agreement with Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office that will allow them to recover $150,000 in assets that were seized by the state. They still cannot reopen the business.

The Gloucester Daily Times reported that the company will get back most of its assets under a memorandum of agreement that was signed on Tuesday. The owners did not admit to any guilt or wrongdoing in the agreement, reported the Gloucester Daily Times.

The arcade, which had two locations including one in the Liberty Tree Mall, was shut down by the state in 2013. The state said the adult penny arcade promoted a lottery with unlawfully operated games. The games didn’t involve skill, according to Coakley’s office, but the owners said the games were not slot machines and did involve skill.

The arcade was for adults 21 and over and included 8-liner video games that “mimic traditional slots,” according to the owners.
